Pictures from our playdate

Does this look like a girl that had surgery yesterday?
Her ear is still bleeding a little. I got a huge clot out!
I am still a little nervous that something may not be right but she is so happy!
We had our friends over for a playdate! This is my friend Meredith's little boy, Andrew and my friend Samantha from work, her little girl Elena!
I found Emerson feeding Caroline yogurt!
I guess since she started cereal Emerson thinks it is a free for all!

Tubes & Adenoidectomy

A few of you have emailed me about Emerson's surgery. She did really well. I felt a little bad for laughing at her and taking pictures of her with Kirt's phone after they gave her the Versed (goofy juice). She was so funny- she kept staring at my mouth and laughing and slurring her words! Then the doctor replaced both of her tubes and removed her adenoids- which will hopefully prevent her from having a third set of tubes! She was VERY grump after she woke up and unconsolable they let us go home without her drinking and we got in the car and she slurped down a juice and popsicle! She did great in the afternoon and then last night Kirt noticed blood coming from her right ear. It is still bleeding this morning so I am waiting on a callback from the doctor. I did bribe her with candy to put the ear drops in and she started calling out for Grandma! She always wants her Grandma to save her when mommmy is being mean! Well, the doctor just said bleeding is normal and that it is probably just a clot that is dissolving. He said to keep doing the ear drops and call him if it is still bleeding tomorrow!

What a week!

What a week! We have had an adventerous week! Kirt just started traveling again and of course it was the night of the big thunderstorm here. I started getting sick on Monday afternoon so I was really not feeling well Tuesday night when the storm was headed this way. Sam would not go to bed because he kept hearing the NOA weather radio reports (finally I took the battery out) and let him get out of bed- I put the girls down at 7:00. My neighboor was so sweet to come over to help me in case we needed to wake the kids if the tornado alarms went off. It seems that all of the cities around us sounded the sirens but our city never did. At one point we could hear all of the toranado sirens but they were from a nearby. Well the next day my dad called and told me I really need to watch how I handle those situations because I don't want to give my kids an unhealthy fear of storms- my parents are WAY TOO laid back about tornados and storms & Kirt is really paranoid- so I try to be a happy medium?! Well the next day Sam came home from school and had a picture in his bag that he drew- yes, it was a picture of a house and a family running from a tornado and the boy was holding a flashlight and siren. It made me kinda sad. My friend said he probably couldn't sleep because he was "protecting" his girls since Kirt was out of town. My sweet boy! Then Emerson & Caroline both have ear infections and Kirt & I both have bronchitis! I kept putting off going to the doctor thinking it would go away but I obviously need some antibiotics now! Then this morning Sam told me he was going to run away from home after school today. He was very upset that I interupted his tv time by telling him to go put his shoes on for school! It was really hard not to laugh picturing my kindergartener running away from home!

The lakehouse

We had a quick lake getaway with my parents & Brooke this weekend. The kids could hardly wait to put up Sam's new tent! Not to sleep in but to play inside. I think they had more fun putting it up than actually playing in it!
Brooke & Sam sitting by the fire! We attempted to put them to bed at 8:30 and enjoy adult time by the fire but by 9:30 they were still up so we let them join the fun!
Caroline is 5 1/2 months old already! Here she is in her outfit that Grandma Dottie got her for the lake! Isn't she so cute!
Emerson had her drink & snacks in hand! She is very busy these days!
Sam LOVES to fish! He caught a small sunfish but we always throw them back since Kirt & I neither one know how to clean a fish!

Our 4 year old babysitter!

I would LOVE it if Brooke could come over and play everyday! She entertained all three of my kids. She would go from room to room playing with Sam & Emerson and of course she loves to hold Caroline! While she was there I got 2 dinners made (I was brining one to a friend), talked on the phone, made Sam do homework, and did a load of laundry! Who knew a four year old could help out that much?! And I had everyone in the car by 5:30 to go deliver the dinner in Plano!

Teacher gift ideas

You know I am always looking for cute teacher gifts! I found this idea on a website and thought it was perfect for Valentines gifts! SO EASY! Just get a bottle of instant hand sanitizer- make sure all of the labels are removable and then decorated them with stickers & ribbon! Kirt thought it was so funny because the stickers kept me busy for about an hour. He said he now sees why Emerson is so entertained by stickers =)

Weekend fun

Emerson lost her blankie at church yesterday! Poor girl has been SO sad! She was up at 4 a.m. crying for her "Taggie" blanket. You can see from the picture that she finally gave up and fell asleep in the recliner at 9:00 this morning. I gave her 3 different blankets trying to "substitute" the real one and then I found a onsie of Carolines that had the "Taggie" ribbons on it so she fell asleep holding the onsie. Good news is that Ms. Penny from church just called and said she found it! I will be there ASAP to retrieve the blanket! And I'm not sure that it will ever leave the house again! Ms. Penny saved the day!
Andy Pettite came to speak at church yesterday and Sam was so excited to stand in line for his autograph. Hence, where we lost the blanket above!
Emerson modeling her cute Matilda Jane skirt!
Caroline is keeping us busy at night by rolling over in her crib. She gets stuck like a little turtle on her tummy and we have to go in a flip her back over! My number one mission is to teach her to roll from tummy to back!
Can you believe she is 5 months old? I am in major denial that our last baby is getting so big!

Movie Night!

My parents came over Friday night and we rented a movie. The kids had fun. Sam misses his Grandpa & Grandma since he is in school now he only gets to see them on the weekends. We are so spoiled living so close to our parents!
