Catalog Living

I stumbled on this hilarious website today- thought I would share it. It is called http://catalogliving.net/ I love to look through catalogs-namely Pottery Barn for ideas. This comedian has made a website that gives the conversations behind the pictures. Definetly worth checking out! It made me laugh almost as much as http://peopleofwalmart.com which is hysterical if you have never looked at it!

Future stylist

Fashion rule #1- leggings are NOT pants!
She loves this outfit- the linen romper with her knee socks and boots- it was 40 degrees outside
We need to clarify the no horizontal stripes and vertical stripes in the same outfit rule! Fashion No-No- you do not mix brown and black- she usually picks the socks and shoes out first then plans the outfit accordingly! Hilarious- we had a friend to play the other day and she asked Lucy Kate if she wanted to come and look at all of her shoes.
Emerson has acquired a different taste in clothes. In fact, her uncle Josh calls her "Boots" because she wears her black cowboy boots with everything---I mean everything. She cracks me up with her taste in clothes. If I can't find her I always know she is standing in her closet finding something to wear. Kirt and I just laugh everytime she comes downstairs all dressed in her creations. I thought I would share some of the ones from recently- most of these are from the last week! And yes we "fix" them
On another note, she came home from school today and on the top of all of her papers she had written "EMMA". I asked her about it and she said "It is too hard to make the letter S- so I am going to change my name to Emma"

an actual snow day

Ice day chaos- there is no other word for it...

Day 3 of ice- it is too cold to play outside and not fun to fall on the ice. I have made soup, chili, enchiladas, and cupcakes. We will eat our way through this ice storm. I was cleaning up after breakfast (biscuits and gravy) and I found the kids sliding down the stairs in their sleeping bags- they were laughing hysterically. I let them do it a few times then I rolled up the sleeping bags.
Yes she was laying backwards on her head- she didn't go down this way- she was just relaxing!

Cabin Fever

The ice storm hit Tuesday so no school- we spent a cozy day at home making soup and watching a movie. The kids were so sweet and Kirt even stayed home from work. Caroline and I are both sick again so we took a nap and relaxed. THEN WEDNSDAY COMES.... not so cozy and cuddly anymore- between the rolling blackouts and eating our way through the day--they are destroying my house and every toy and crayon has been touched today! Then to top it all off (see picture below) Miss Caroline Rose has escaped from her crib. Really? of all days- TODAY? I think they know I am defeated. I am not sure I can handle another snow day tomorrow! I can't even try to sleep off my illness because there is no napping for these little monkeys! Kirt can't get home quick enough!
(And yes, I know Caroline is wearing a halloween shirt and polka dot tights but it doesn't even bother me at this point)

Kid Funnies

After our day yesterday I really needed a laugh! So I thought I would post my thoughts:
  • At Walmart this morning Emerson started yelling "Look Mommy, a Pirate" "Mommy do you see pirate" "That man is a pirate" Imagine it keeps getting louder and louder and she screams all of this before I can even tell her to be quieter and tell her I see the older man with a patch over his eye riding on a scooter.
  • Then, we go to check out and I am in my "I have 3 sick kids and feel terrible and my husband is out of town clothes but have to get food" and this guys comes up to me and says "Are you Stacey or Tracey?" then he proceeds to introduce me to his wife and family as "This is Stacey we went to high school together" (So clue number 1, I went to high school with him---still have no idea who he is) so into the conversation I realize I must have run into him before because he looks puzzled when I ask him where he lives- like he must have told me last time I ran into him and then he says "We are thinking of having a third child" And I said "Oh you should, 3 is great- our third one brings so much joy and happiness to our home" and he said "Yes, I told my wife you said that last time I saw you- you are the only person who encouraged us to have a 3rd baby" Then he says "Look me up on facebook" And I smiled and I still have no idea what his name is so I obviously can't look him up on facebook. He does look familiar though??
  • Our other funny thing happened back in December but I forgot to blog about it- At Three Trees (Our church brings people from low-income families and they pick out gifts for their kids and get walmart/payless gift cards). Well, Kirt was standing next to the executive pastor and John says "I need a spanish interpreter" Of course Sam says, "I know someone who speaks spanish I can go get him" everyone looks at him and he said "His name is Miguel Lopez" Miguel is the spanish pastor at the church who was in the middle of a sermon to these familes. We thought it was funny- in Sam's mind he could hear Miguel speaking spanish now so why didnt we just ask him to come interpret for us!

Poor Girl

Poor sweet little Caroline had a trip to the ER yesterday. She is fine. I was cleaning my carpets yesterday and apparently it aggitated her airway with the smell- but she has had a respiratory infection since Monday and is on antibiotics. She was running around playing when I noticed she was wheezing. I listened to her and took her outside to see if the cold air would open her up while we waited on the pedi to call me back. I gave her a treatment (I had to basically sit on her and hold the mask to her face while she screamed and jerked her head around) so I am not sure if it would have been effective anyways. She was still coughing and wheezing but she was talking so I thought we would just get out of the house and maybe that would help. So no coats, one shoe and sock and no diaper bag we headed to McDonalds drive-thru. On the way home she was coughing so bad she couldn't catch her breath and she couldn't stop coughing. I gave her my coke to drink because the cold drink would help her cough and I rolled down the window. I called the pedi who told me to take her to the ER. I don't know what I would have done with out my mom and sister who both left work at a seconds notice to come rescue me. (It always happens when Kirt is out of town) When I got the girls out of the car and walked into the ER her airway opened up because of the cold wind and she was fine! Not sure the ER doc believed me but she gave her a treatment and some steroids. The respiratory therapist was very helpful and told me that since it was upper airway the treatment wouldn't have worked anyways and that I did the right thing. We have the best pedi- he called a few times to check on her and then gave me his home number in case we needed anything. We opened the windows (yes it was 30 degrees) and took refuge at my sisters house. Caroline is fine now and I will keep her on her allergy meds, antibiotic, and steroid. This is one tired mommy who will be keeping Caroline away from the church nursery until she can get her immune system back up. This has happened one other time when we were on a playground with lots of loose dirt- I think my girl just has a reactive airway!
